We are proud to announce that we were named Education Architect of the Year 2023, a recognition of our commitment to creating inspiring, pupil-centred learning environments.
Education projects require a particular level of understanding which we have in abundance from infant schools to higher education. We pride ourselves on designing well-made learning environments of all scales: public and private, new and refurbished, in both contemporary and heritage settings. The common thread? Placing the needs of pupils and staff first.
Our holistic approach integrates landscape expertise and aspires to create architecture that is robust, engaging, and fun. To design spaces for learning and collaborate effectively with clients, we immerse ourselves in their world – understanding teaching, curriculum, current theories, and the myriad factors that shape education.
We believe in promoting education beyond our projects: supporting architecture students, running work experience programmes, and taking on apprentices. Our team examines in universities, and one member recently served on the board of a Multi-Academy Trust with thirty disadvantaged schools, gaining invaluable insight into decision-making from the other side.
These projects bring together different strands of our thinking. Haberdashers’ Boys’ was built around Ph.D. research into optimal learning environments. Aldenham Prep overcame significant greenbelt constraints to provide a nurturing space for modern learning. At Wootton Bassett Infant School, clever use of space and budget transformed the campus, leading to a marked increase in library use.
Winning Education Architect of the Year 2023 reinforced our belief that great design can shape futures. We look forward to continuing to create spaces where learning thrives.
