Focused on children’s wellbeing, curiosity and connection with nature. This additional classroom space offered the opportunity to consider how the school environment can support these needs whilst creating a strong relationship between the new classrooms and the surrounding landscape, allowing learning to extend beyond the building into the school’s woodland setting.

Timber ceiling joists and acoustic wood-fibre panels provide excellent internal acoustics with a calming character for younger learners.

The ground floor incorporates direct access to an enclosed external play space and woodland ‘forest school’ for more active learners, whilst first floor rooms have access via an external deck and staircase.

A rich planting palette is woven through the historic courtyard, integrating access whilst defining outdoor learning spaces with high-quality materials.
